The Government of Quebec is starting a vaccination campaign for the second booster dose of vaccine once morest COVID-19 in living environments in the province.
“This new dose of vaccine aims to ensure that we better protect the most vulnerable people once morest the consequences of an increase in contagion in Quebec,” said Minister of Health Christian Dubé in a press release. It is part of a desire to offer additional immunization to these citizens, who are already well protected by previous doses, but who might be more at risk due to the arrival of the BA.2 variant.
All living environments are affected by this additional vaccination. This includes residential and long-term care centers (CHSLD), intermediate and family-type resources (RI-RTF), as well as private seniors’ residences (RPA).
Mobile vaccination teams will move directly to these places. No action is therefore necessary on the part of the persons concerned or their relatives to make an appointment.
Other groups
People aged 80 and over living at home and those who are immunocompromised will also be able to make an appointment at vaccination centers since March 29. Registration is open on the Clic santé website.
These people will have to observe a minimum interval of three months since the administration of their last dose.
Remember that the arrival of the BA.2 variant has caused a new increase in active cases in Quebec. Public Health is monitoring the situation closely, but, for the moment, it is only calling on every citizen “to take responsibility for protecting others from the virus”. (N.P.)
