Earlier, Madiha Al-Maksousi, a member of the Parliament’s Anti-Narcotics Committee, said in a statement to the Qatari newspaper Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, “The Iraqi government is paying great attention to the file of combating drugs, due to the great danger this scourge poses to Iraqi society in increasing the rates of various crimes.”

She added that “Iraq succeeded in forming a committee and a joint operations room with neighboring countries and some countries of the world to track drug dealers, especially within international networks, and achieved success in uncovering many of those networks and arresting dangerous international dealers at the regional and global levels,” noting that “the international conference that Baghdad intends to host soon to combat drugs is very important.”
