Al-Marsad newspaper: Fitness trainer Captain Abu Moaz explained what happens to the body when fasting for 16 consecutive hours.
He said during a video clip he posted on his Tik Tok account: “If fasting is done for a period of 4 to 8 hours, blood sugar drops, food leaves the stomach, and insulin secretion stops.”
He continued: “When fasting for 12 hours, all food is completely burned, and if no food is eaten following that, the system rests and the growth hormone continues to rise.
He added: ‘After 14 hours, the body begins to use stored fats for energy and also autophagy, which means getting rid of senescent and dysfunctional cells and building new cells.’
He added: “After fasting for 16 hours, the body begins to intensify fat burning, and the percentage of growth hormone increases by up to 50 to 100%, which contributes to maintaining muscle mass.”
