“It is a scandal !”, these are the words used by Jean-Louis Brocart when he talks about the current situation of the Abbey Palace of Saint-Hubert. The former alderman and municipal councilor of Saint-Hubert does not understand why such a building is left abandoned. “For a while now, no activity has taken place therehe emphasizes. To express his indignation, Jean-Louis Brocart is organizing a rally this Saturday, September 9, at 6 p.m., in front of the abbey palace. Called “The indignants of the abbey palace”, this group aims to show the discontent of citizens with the situation and the future of the building. In this matter, Jean-Louis Brocart also believes that the Commune is not playing its role. “Our elected officials are not active enough, he specifies. The Municipality is not the owner but I do not agree with its inaction. Everything that happens on the soil of a municipality must concern elected officials.” In addition to the abbey palace, Jean-Louis Brocart also wonders about the future of the basilica. “For this, the Municipality has a subsidy of ten million euros to receive over ten years, he recalls. It’s raining in the basilica, so I don’t understand how we can’t solve this problem. Besides this, other buildings installed on municipal land are in a pitiful state, such as the athénée on place du Fays and avenue Paul Poncelet, the Porte de Bastogne, the old Valbois, etc.”
