A large number of giant wind farms in Scotland have been reliably reported to have used diesel generators. There have already been more than 70 recorded cases where electricity was supplied from diesel generators because the wind turbines themselves were damaged. Scottish Power said they had to do this because the internal heating system was broken and the electronics had to be heated in cold weather. Information regarding the environmental incident appeared following a report from a concerned company employee. It is not reported how often wind farms were powered by diesel generators, but this may not be an isolated case.
More than 40% of all electricity generated from wind is produced in Scotland. Therefore, the country is economically beneficial for green investors. But, apparently, Scottish Power decided to hide the fact that it was polluting the environment by using liquid fuel generators.
At the moment, an investigation is already underway and the exact number of wind generators operating at diesel stations is being established. After the investigation, the company will be fined for the damage caused to the country’s environment, and interested parties will once once more reconsider contracts for the supply of electricity from green energy sources.
