The annual general meeting of the Scaër Horse Mutual was held at the Youenn-Gwernig cultural center on Friday December 1, 2023, in front of a meager audience.

The number of members decreased this year, going from 51 in 2022 to 48 in 2023. The count of registered equines gave eleven foals, 192 horses, draft and saddle combined, four ponies and two donkeys. That is, all equines combined, 209 animals in 2023 compared to 228 in 2022. The death toll for the year amounts to six horses and one foal, all working Bretons.

Reduction of the veterinary package

Treasurer Jean-Yves Sellin presented a slightly negative assessment, due among other things to the decrease in the number of members. This decline is mainly explained by the aging of owners and their disappearance.

As part of the measures intended to perpetuate the association, the assembly voted unanimously to reduce by half the flat rate for participation in veterinary costs and to continue to increase the guarantee rate by 0.1%.

The office was renewed as follows: Christian Cottennec, president; Jean-Yves Sellin, treasurer; Michèle Cottenec, secretary.
