Brazilian legend Pele congratulated the Saudi Football Federation on the Saudi women’s team’s victory over Seychelles with two goals to nothing. He wrote on his official account on Twitter: “I would like to congratulate the Saudi Football Association and the Saudi women’s team on their first official international match. Today is a historic day, not only for them, but for all football lovers.”
The Saudi women’s football team achieved a historic start, by defeating the Seychelles team 2-0, in the match that took place on Sunday evening at the National Stadium in the Maldives, as part of an international friendly three-way tournament.

And Al-Bandari Mubarak scored the first goal, in the 14th minute of the first half, to be the first goal of the Saudi women’s team in history.
Four minutes into the second half, Maryam Al-Tamimi added the second goal for Al-Akhdar from a penalty kick.
For his part, the International Football Association celebrated the first international match for the Saudi women’s team, and wrote through his account on “Twitter”: “A picture of history. The Saudi team played today the first match in the history of women’s football.”
And he represented the Saudi national team in the first international match in its history: “Sarah Muhammad in the goalkeeper, the defenders: Lin Muhammad, Tala Al-Ghamdi, because he is Abdul Razzaq, the statement of charity, and in the middle: Reem Al-Tamimi, Lian Al-Gohari, Sarah Hamad, Noura Ibrahim, Al-Bandari Mubarak, and the attacker.” Al-Bandari Hawsawi.”
The Saudi Green had opened its program in a preparatory camp on the fourteenth of last January in the city of Jeddah, before moving on the twenty-seventh of the same month to the second phase, which included a camp in Riyadh, then leaving for the Maldives for the third (final) phase of the first program in History of the first national team.

For her part, Member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Football Association and Director of the Women’s Football Department, Lamia Bint Bahian, confirmed that this match is a culmination of the efforts made in Saudi women’s football. Women in 2019, and today we are transforming the dream into reality thanks to the great support that sports, and football in particular, receive from our rational government, and the constant and continuous follow-up of His Highness the Minister of Sports and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Football Association.
Bint Bahian added: “This is the beginning, and we have a long way to go until we reach the goal that we seek to achieve with the national team, which is to reach the farthest point from international and regional tournaments in the upcoming participations.
