The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will share its Expert Raw app with more smartphones

Very soon, more Galaxy smartphones will be able to take advantage of Expert RAW, the application created by Samsung to take photos in RAW format.

The photos we take with our smartphones are usually saved in JPEG format. But the smartphone, which tends more and more towards a high-level photographic tool, flirts with the world of cameras and is therefore also capable of recording shots in RAW format. This format is widely used by photographers and anyone else who wants the best possible image quality — at the expense of file size. The creators of applications and smartphones are therefore increasingly looking into the integration of this format.

The more widely deployed Expert RAW app

With this in mind, Samsung recently created an application dedicated to managing this format, called Expert RAW. The latter is intended to be more complete with the basic Camera application and offers finer management of settings, such as ISO, shutter speed, exposure or even white balance. Each shot is saved simultaneously in RAW and JPEG format.

Except that until now, this app was compatible with very few devices, namely only two phones: the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Fortunately, that should change soon with support for more models.

The info appeared on an official Korean Samsung community forum. Other Galaxy models will be able to install this application dedicated to photo enthusiasts, starting February 25. Samsung explains that the supported models will be detailed shortly before launch, but that it will most likely be a high-end model, depending on the specifications of the photo sensors. We can therefore easily assume that these will be the future flagships of the brand, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plusbut also Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus. As for the foldable models of the Korean giant, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip 3they might also benefit from it.
