New Delhi: Concerns have been raised that two planes might have taken off simultaneously from the same runway. The incident took place at the Dubai airport. Two Emirates flights to India were scheduled to take off from the same runway at the same time. But the last-minute intervention averted a major catastrophe.
Flight EK-524 from Dubai to Hyderabad and flight EK568 to Bangalore were scheduled to take off from the same runway at the same time. Both were scheduled to depart at 9.45pm last Sunday. The take-off between the two planes was reported to be only five minutes apart.

The EK-524 flight from Dubai to Hyderabad was returning to the runway to take off when it was spotted by another plane coming at high speed. The Air Traffic Controller (ATC) then intervened and postponed the take-off, ANI reports, citing sources close to the matter.
The Dubai-Hyderabad flight, which entered the taxiway safely following noticing the incident, was continuing its journey shortly following. The AAIS (Air Accident Investigation Sector) in the UAE is conducting a detailed investigation into the incident. ANI reports that Emirates has confirmed a serious security breach.

B777, which has started to take off for Emirates’ EK524 Dubai-Hyderabad flight and exceeds 120 kn, continues on the runway.
EK568/B77, which crossed the runway transversely and did not get permission to cross the runway, canceled the take-off despite its high speed.
