Those were the highlights of the “comeback” of the leading international trade fair for the tourism industry.
Salzburg/Hallwang (OTS) – After a three-year break due to the pandemic, the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) – the world’s leading trade fair for the tourism industry – took place in Berlin for the first time from March 7th to 9th. The SalzburgerLand Tourismus Gesellschaft (SLTG) used the opportunity to exchange ideas with leading experts in the industry and to advertise summer holidays in the SalzburgerLand in Germany, the most important market of origin.
“Over three days, we met the largest tour operators from all over the world, important mobility partners such as airlines and rail transport operators, leading experts from tourism and trend research and, above all, high-ranking multipliers and media representatives, especially from Germany – with more than 40 percent Overnight stays are by far the most important source market for tourism in SalzburgerLand”brings SLTG Managing Director Leo Bauernberger the importance of the ITB for the domestic tourism industry in a nutshell. “Not least the pandemic has shown that personal encounters are irreplaceable, especially in the tourism industry – and the ITB is a perfect, international meeting point for this.”
The SalzburgerLand presence in Berlin focused on emotional messages and inspiring ambassadors who represented SalzburgerLand and its tourist offers in a special way. The thematic arc spanned from world-class art and culture to adventurous pleasure tours on the trail of Alpine cuisine to the newly designed Salzburg Almenweg, which takes into account the healthy trend of long-distance hiking.
Culinary art “Abduction from the Seraglio”
At the event “4x across” – an event together with the Austrian Tourist Board and the federal states of Upper Austria, Styria and Carinthia on the eve of the ITB – embodied Emanuel and Hans Weyringer the proverbial family Salzburg symbiosis of top cuisine and high culture. With its fine dessert composition “The abduction from the Seraglio” Emanuel Weyringer inspired the approximately 50 exclusively invited travel journalists, while his father Hans, inspired by his son’s dish and the opera, which is also interwoven with Berlin, captured his very personal interpretation of the Singspiel on the screen.
Trend & tradition at the SalzburgerLand press breakfast
The enjoyment of (long-distance) hiking, on the other hand, was the focus of the SalzburgerLand press breakfast Johanna Nussbaumer managed restaurant “nut tree woman” in the center of Berlin. The press breakfast is a long-standing tradition as part of the ITB and a fixed date that has become dear to many travel journalists in German-speaking countries – which was enthusiastically accepted once more following a three-year break. Together with Christine Sharpetter from the partner region Hochkönig and Tom Schwaigerthe charismatic landlord of the TOM Almhütte in Maria Alm, the SLTG brought the Salzburg Almenweg and fresh, hand-made delicacies from the alpine huts to the table.
Magazine special awakens travel dreams from SalzburgerLand
The SLTG was also able to present the hot off the press at the ITB ADAC travel magazine – SalzburgerLand Extra. “With this special publication of the leading German touring club, we are reaching more than 700,000 readers in our most important home market”Leo Bauernberger is pleased regarding the magazine, which is published in cooperation with the Motor Presse Stuttgart was implemented. “Excitingly written travel reports from the city and state of Salzburg, competent service contributions and lots of insider tips awaken travel dreams – and this at a time when vacation decisions are being made in many households.”according to Bauernberger.
In recent years, high-quality SalzburgerLand Magazin specials have been published, for example by the TIME, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), GEO Saison, STERN or COLORFUL.
SalzburgerLand Tourismus wins international prizes
There was also a toast to special awards, which the SalzburgerLand Tourismus Gesellschaft in Berlin was delighted to receive: the International Tourism Multimedia Award “Golden City Gate” was awarded straight away three gold and one silver for the campaigns and moving image formats of the SalzburgerLand creative team: Gold went to the campaign in the “Campaigns” category „Generation Winter“ with Marcel Hirscher, in the category “Country” to the video “That’s what we live for – Viviamo per momenti cosí” in the Italian market and in the “Eco Tourism” category to the moving image series „Respect & Protect“with which the SLTG surprisingly draws attention to the important topic of Alpine safety and correct behavior on the mountain.
In the election for the PR Team of the Year became the SalzburgerLand world’s best region chosen. In the overall ranking, SLTG occupies fourth place – only the large national tourism organizations from Switzerland, France and Poland with their own offices in Germany rank ahead of them. “These awards are a wonderful endorsement for our great team – and of course a great motivation to continue to do so professionally and with the highest quality in the future,” according to Bauernberger.
