Pentecost time is Dult time. At the weekend, the big folk festival started on the exhibition grounds. When the weather was nice, City News spoke to some of the guests regarding why they love coming.

Perfect weather with 22 degrees and sunshine awaited the visitors on the Dult opening day last Saturday. Many traditionally dressed in Dirndl and Krachlederner, some also casually dressed, populated the 30,000 square meter amusement park at 2 p.m. and the first screams of joy rang out high above the heads of this year’s highest ride, the approximately 90 meter high “Bayern Tower”-Kettenprater.

For the 49th edition of the folk festival, the city news on the Dult asked around what is special regarding the folk festival for the people of Salzburg and why they like to visit the amusement park with its more than 100 rides, games booths and food stands every year.

The Dult awakens childhood memories

When surveying the camera-shy visitors, it became clear that most of them have been coming since they were children. 16-year-old Hava from Salzburg and her 14-year-old cousin Amina come to the Dult every year. “We have made a lot of memories here and every time we are here we are just happy because we remember our childhood. We were sad when it was canceled because of Corona, but now we are very happy,” they explain enthused. Her favorite ride is No Limit, although it’s a little scary, but that’s what makes the ride so special. The 53-year-old Hubert Höllmann from St. Wolfgang expresses himself differently. He only comes here for his children. In Salzburg, the Dult is somehow part of it, even if nothing has become cheaper, of course. A group of mid-30-year-olds from Grossarl is mainly because of the beer tent and the fairground rides at the folk festival, even if there might be more “drink stands”. 13-year-old Leonhard from Obertrum thinks the Dult is really cool, “because there are so many rides and something to eat, even if it’s a bit expensive.” His favorite thing to do is ride the ghost train.

Despite the increased prices for the rides, people are still enthusiastic, because the Dult is simply fun, fun and you can “people watch” very well. The Dult can still be visited until Sunday, June 4th.
