While work has begun in Stegenwald, Salzburg AG is mulling over plans for an even larger power plant a few kilometers downstream.
Excavators, wheel loaders, dump trucks, cranes: In the meantime, heavy equipment has been driven up the Salzach in Stegenwald. The first major earth movements have already taken place. Salzburg AG and Verbund are building a new hydroelectric power station here for around 100 million euros over the next two and a half years. With an annual generation of almost 73 gigawatt hours, the Stegenwald power plant will in future be able to supply around 20,000 households with electricity.
