The salaries of state employees are “frozen” .. and Aoun requires the meeting of the Council of Ministers

In a statement, the Information Office of the Presidency of the Republic indicated that the media are circulating information that contractors, wage earners, daily workers and others will not be able to receive their salaries and compensation at the end of the current month of January, and that the “decrees” related to this issue are “frozen” in the Presidency of the Republic. The office responded that the solution to this issue lies in the convening of the Council of Ministers.

And to “clarify the truth and resolve any controversy,” a statement was issued by the Information Office, which said:

O no: It is the custom before the end of each year that the Council of Ministers decides to extend the work of temporary staff, contractors, wage earners, etc., which was not done before the end of last year because the Council of Ministers did not convene for known reasons.

Secondly: The President of the Republic demanded that the Council of Ministers convene to decide on this and other pending and urgent issues, but his efforts were not responded to, bearing in mind that the Prime Minister sent a letter in this regard to the Presidency of the Republic requesting to know the position of the President of the Republic on the possibility of issuing exceptional approvals to secure the issuance of decrees These issues are addressed, including: increasing the value of transportation allowances for employees of the public and private sectors, giving social assistance to employees in the public sector for the months of November and December 2021, transferring monthly lump sums for military and security wires, entitlements to the Ministry of Health of medicines, hospitals, and others… However, the presidency saw It is impossible to issue exceptional approvals under a government that is not resigned and is not in the process of conducting business, and that the appropriate solution is in the convening of the Council of Ministers to study these issues and issue the appropriate decisions regarding them.

Third: It is clear from the foregoing that any delay that may occur in dealing with the rights of contractors, wage earners, daily workers and other financial and non-financial rights and obligations, bears the responsibility of the parties that disrupt the holding of the sessions of the Council of Ministers, where the only constitutional place valid for deciding such issues, and therefore the supreme national interest, and the interest of all For the Lebanese people, it lies in convening the Council of Ministers as soon as possible, in order to avoid further damage to the state, its institutions and its workers, civilians and military, and thus to all Lebanese, in addition to the necessity of discussing the draft budget law for the year 2022 and presenting the financial recovery plan upon its completion.
