Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous trade rumors sending Karlsson to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
If they want to acquire the Swedish player, the Pennsylvania organization will have to use their imagination. The Penguins are $3.2 million over the salary cap.
Karlsson commands a salary of $11.5 million for the next four seasons.
The star defenseman reached a personal high last season with 101 points, including 25 goals in 82 games. This incredible campaign allowed him to win the Norris Trophy, awarded to the best defenseman in the regular season, for the third time in his career.
