The presence of Jason Statham, Megan Fox and 50 Cent cannot save Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren.
Released 13 years ago, the first The sacrificed had been imagined by Sylvester Stallone as a sort of revenge, in a nod to old action film actors, Jet Li, Bruce Willis (now ill) and Arnold Schwarzenegger then following suit.

The idea was successful, the first three feature films in this franchise having grossed no less than 804 million USD at worldwide box office… The last one, The Sacrifices 3having been less successful than its predecessors with almost starving revenues of 214 million.
And despite this downward trend, the core quartet of Jason Statham (also producer), Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture have decided to do it once more… with the disastrous consequences that entails.
Behind the camera, director Scott Waugh (The need for speed) fails to breathe the slightest spark of life into the screenplay, even though it was written by six hands by Kurt Wimmer, Tad Daggerhart and Max Adams. There is a vague story of nuclear detonators hidden in a chemical weapons depot in Gaddafi, Libya, all seasoned with economic stunts of which only a knife fight proves remotely satisfactory.

This time, Lee Christmas (Jason Statham, who we know more enthusiastically in the franchise of Fast and dangerous) finds himself sidelined following Barney Ross’ (Sylvester Stallone) plane explodes, while Gina (Megan Fox in a slightly less decorative role than usual) takes control of operations, which now include Lash (Levy Tran), another woman, so as not to seem too overwhelmed.
We will look in vain for humor (serious jokes regarding penis size are not enough to trigger laughter!), action (even Megan Fox has difficulty not appearing asleep) and winks which had made the first two Sacrificed light and fun entertainment.

And yes, it is time for Sylvester Stallone (77 years old) and Dolph Lundgren (65 years old) to hang up their mercenary costumes and enjoy the joys of a well-deserved retirement.
The victims arrives in cinemas on September 22.
