The Sablon Music Festival returns this weekend following four years of absence, said Thursday the office of the Brussels alderman for Economic Affairs, Fabien Maingain (Défi).
After three years of inactivitydue to Covid-19 and a lack of resources in 2022, the festival returns this year to the legendary Place du Sablon. Born 30 years agounder the name of “Sablon festivals“, the event was intended to animate the deserted streets of the district during the weekend of August 15, through shows, a craft market or jazz and Creole music concerts.
If between-temps, the Sablon Festivals have become the “Sablon Music Festival“the will of the organizers remains to preserve the family spirit and the intimate character of the event. Its programming is however more varied today, with a succession of artists from older generations and promising young groups, the festival making it a point of honor to open its stage to new Belgian bands in full expansion.
With a program entirely dedicated to rock, the Friday evening will start with the Brussels group Behind the Pines, and will continue with harmoniscite Greg Zlap, who has notably played for Johnny Hallyday. Atomic plays Blondie, Marka and Comba Canne à Sucre will punctuate the day on Saturday, while the stage will welcome the group of jazz Brussels manouche Gamme des Tavernes for the last day of the festival.
A fifteen stalls bringing together restaurants from the neighborhood offering world cuisine will also allow the public to sustain themselves during the weekend.
