The S-Link is a bad investment

Having been on the road in Salzburg for 25 years (ten years as a driving instructor, 15 years as a bus driver), I cannot agree to the extremely expensive S-Link project. We don’t have any traffic problems to Salzburg-Süd and certainly none between the main station and Mirabellplatz. Ten bus routes run here every two minutes! Salzburg-Süd and Hallein are also well served by bus and train. Why do the academics responsible for traffic see a problem where there is none? Common sense lost while studying. Do you really think that the daily traffic jams in Bergheim, Elixhausen, Vogelweiderstraße, Fürbergstraße, Linzer Bundesstraße and many more will change? My common sense says the S-Link doesn’t change that at all. The billions reserved for this project should be invested more sensibly – with common sense – for example in a general renovation of the Moosstraße and Fürstenallee mogul slopes or an additional bus stop for the post buses at the main station. Not to be forgotten: a five-day week for all bus drivers in KV (the gastronomy also managed this) and a decent salary adjustment that does justice to the responsibility and the work performed.

The construction of the S-Link is one of the biggest bad investments in the city of Salzburg and I ask myself: does the politicians have no sense of proportion, no common sense and no respect for the taxpayers?
