This afternoon, October 2, information from Russian military personnel about the alleged use of an ODAB-9000 aerial bomb by Russian troops in Vovchansk began to spread online. This information is not true.
About this informs operational-tactical group “Kharkiv”.
According to spokesman Vitaly Sarantsev, the use of such ammunition requires a suitable carrier, the movement of which has not been recorded.
“The use of this ammunition requires a suitable carrier, which could theoretically be, for example, a Tu-160 strategic bomber, but the movement of such aircraft has not been recorded. An ammunition of smaller weight and power was used, the explosion of which was used by the propagandists to create a “spectacular” picture,” said Sarantsev.
According to him, such messages can be part of an information war aimed at demoralizing servicemen of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, intimidating the local population and destabilizing the region.
He also called on the media, administrators of Telegram channels and users of social networks to observe information hygiene and use verified sources.
What is ODAB-9000?
ODAB-9000 is an aviation vacuum bomb of increased power. Its unofficial name is “Daddy of all bombs”. According to the media, it is considered the most powerful non-nuclear weapon in the world. Compared to the American counterpart, the Russian bomb weighs less, but due to the use of nanotechnology, it is 4 times more powerful and can simultaneously hit an area 20 times larger – 180 blocks against 9 in MOAB/B.
