Gauff advanced by beating the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (37th) by 7-6 (8-6), 6-7 (3-7) and 6-2, while Sabaleka triumphed once morest the Czech Barbora Krejcikova (11th) by 6-2 and 6-3.
