The government announced the “extraordinary and temporary implementation” of the Export Increase Program (PIE) for soybeans, allowing exporters to freely dispose of 25% of the foreign currency obtained from their sales. However, the Rural Society questioned the measure and called for greater security for the agricultural sector. What did they say.
The Argentine Rural Society issued a statement in which it expressed its dissatisfaction with this government decision, stating that the measure only benefits the government and industry, without offering security to producers.
“We continue to expect measures that comprehensively benefit the entire sector and not to the benefit of some and the detriment of others,” stated the business entity.
Besides, the Rural Society stressed the need to have a single exchange rate without restrictions or export duties, arguing that this would be essential for the Argentine economy.
The entity also expressed concern regarding the market paralysis during the last week and the lack of reference prices for producers.
The new soybean dollar establishes that 75% of the equivalent value of the export of soybeans, flour, oil and biodiesel it must enter the country in foreign currency and be negotiated through the Mercado Libre de Cambios (MLC). The remaining 25% will be freely available.
