The Rumichaca-Pasto 4G project that will facilitate connection between Colombia and Ecuador is ready

CWith the delivery of approximately 10 kilometers of dual carriageway between San Juan (Ipiales) and El Contadero, in addition to the construction of the Boquerón vehicular bridge, work on the Fourth Generation (4G) Rumichaca–Pasto project has been completedgranted by the National Infrastructure Agency (Ani), something that the Government described as a milestone for the infrastructure of the southwest of the country, which will facilitate mobility between Colombia and Ecuador.

“It is an enormous satisfaction to deliver this great project to a region as important for the country as Nariño is, for what it represents: its historical and cultural wealth. Undoubtedly, his works promote economic justice in the southwest through the generation of employment and the promotion of new opportunities for the communities”, said the Minister of Transportation, Guillermo Reyes.

“This project had an investment of $2.5 billion and generated more than 13,600 jobs. With this delivery, the government continues to encourage productivity, tourism, and agribusiness,” he added.

Rumichaca – Pasto, according to the Transportation portfolio, is an 83-kilometer road corridor that will improve competitiveness, taking into account that it connects Pasto and the border with Ecuador through works such as the dual carriageway from Ipiales (San Juan) to Catambuco and from Catambuco to Pasto.

“With these works, the government generates connectivity and competitiveness. In addition to the significant reduction in travel times of 40 minutes between the Rumichaca and Pasto International Bridge, the operating speed is increased to 60 kilometers per hour.guaranteeing greater road safety and comfort for users and reducing the operating costs of cargo vehicles, which facilitates foreign trade and productivity from the south to the center of the country,” explained William Camargo, president of Ani .

The works benefit the entire department of Nariño and directly some 884,000 residents of the municipalities of Ipiales, Contadero, Iles, Tangua, Yacuanquer, Imués and Pasto.
