The graphics card market is slowly starting to stabilize, but Nvidia is soon ready to shake it up again with the RTX 4000 series, with the 4070 version potentially as powerful as an RTX 3090 Ti.
An RTX 4070 that surprises
This is of course a rumour, nothing has been officially revealed by Nvidia. But the information comes from a leaker who has already proven himself. The Twitter account @kopite7kimi is doing us another favor by announcing that they know the technical specifications of the RTX 4070.
Without being the most competent graphics card expected for the next few months, the figures displayed in the tweet are very impressive compared to what one could expect.
According to the rumors established before, the card was to be equipped with 10 GB of video memory, but kopite7kimi now expects 12 GB with 21 Gbps and not 18. This increase makes the 4070 much more competitive compared to future cards from the side of AMD.

The tweet also mentions the supposed score the 4070 would get in a 3D Mark test, a benchmark for calculating a card’s graphics performance. 11,000 is a similar number to a 3090 Tithe best graphics card in the world today.
In addition to the more than respectable performance of the RTX 4070, the next graphics card should also be very energy efficient. If we are to believe our friend kopite7kimi again, it would only take 300W to make it work. For reference, the RTX 3090 Ti requires 465W to run.
What we know about the RTX 4000s
Nvidia’s RTX 4000 series should arrive in a few months and start with the most powerful, the RTX 4090. According to the same leaker who gives us the information today, the 4090 Ti, the most powerful of all , would come with no less than 48 GB of GDDR6X video memory. It’s just huge.
One can clearly wonder what is the use of having such powerful graphics cards. For the vast majority of players, the RTX 3000 series is already more than enough or even provides more than necessary performance. The other question that remains unanswered is that of the price. With ever more advanced capacities, we suspect that the note will be salty.
As for the release date, nothing has been announced by Nvidia yet, but the RTX 4090, the first that should appear, is supposed to arrive around October. Chances are we will have to wait until 2023 to get the other more affordable versions.
