In a context of persistent inflation and falling purchasing power, Nvidia would have no intention of abandoning its RTX 3060. Popular because it is inexpensive, the old mid-range card from the chameleon brand should see a revival its price will drop in 2024… and therefore continue to be among Nvidia’s best sellers, almost three years following its initial launch.

As reported by the specialized site VideoCardz, the firm would have planned to continue producing it so that its partners might lower prices, particularly on the 12 GB model. The latter might thus fall below the $282 mark (compared to $290 to $350 currently on the American market). Of course, this drop in price should be all the more palpable on the 8 GB model of the RTX 3060, which is already more affordable.

A surprising policy? Not really…

In any case, the supply of RTX 3060 12 GB would already be assured for the first quarter of 2024. It is possible that Nvidia’s stocks will weaken in the second quarter, depending on the interest of its AIB partners, reads -on, but the firm’s objective would indeed be to maintain the prices of its RTX 3060 at around 280 dollars or below.

The idea would then be to compete with the Radeon RX 6750 GRE (available in 10 and 12 GB versions) that AMD offers more or less at the same price. It should also be noted that AMD has become accustomed to selling its older generation graphics cards at low prices. An approach that pushes Nvidia to respond with a similar approach.

VideoCardz nevertheless points out that the extended production of the RTX 3060 is not really a surprise in itself. Its replacement, the RTX 4060, is limited to 8 GB of video memory and is still young: its launch dates back less than a year. Under these conditions, it would not be surprising if Nvidia maintained production of its RTX 3060 for another year.

Nvidia’s approach already seems to be bearing fruit; the Chinese manufacturer Onda, for example, has just launched an RTX 3060.dual-slot» at 1899 yuan, or a little less than 270 dollars.
