The speech addressed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the revolution of the King and the people was clear and limpid in setting the rules that should henceforth govern Morocco’s relations with its partners, believes the writer-journalist, Abdelhamid Jmahri. In a statement to MAP, the editor of the Arabic-language daily ”Al Ittihad Al Ichtiraki” notes that the Royal speech once once more highlighted the fundamentals of the Kingdom, namely in the first place that the Sahara issue is the prism through which Morocco considers its international environment. He adds by saying that the Royal speech underlined that the achievements made by Morocco are “the result of an intelligent and thoughtful reading of international upheavals”, considering that Morocco’s traditional partners must turn the page of positions ambiguous and that ”a partner cannot, in this case, claim neutrality on this issue”. Concerning the Moroccans of the world, the editorialist points out that the Royal speech is a clear message aimed at ”doing justice to the Moroccan community residing abroad and giving it the place it deserves”. He also indicates that the Royal speech pleaded for ”improving the performance of institutions and governance” while encouraging them to take advantage of the skills and scientific knowledge of Moroccans around the world, before affirming that the Moroccan community residing abroad represents ”an essential lever in terms of materializing the new development model”. Abdelhamid Jmahri also points out that the Sovereign has called on the institutions concerned to set up a mechanism to support Moroccan skills abroad and to institutionalize their links with the homeland while effectively getting involved in the promotion of investments by expatriates. Moroccans in their country, with a view to encouraging their participation in the sustainable development of Morocco.
