The Sovereign has always considered, through the various speeches delivered and His unwavering commitment, that sport is a priority project, which has been relaunched through several structural reforms both in terms of laws and sports facilities, and in terms of governance and financial resources to allow it to experience its full development.
In this sense, HM the King has ensured that all the conditions are met to allow national sport to enter the third millennium and meet the various challenges. Thus, the national sports policy was not content with training champions in the various disciplines but ensured the establishment of sports facilities able to meet the demand of Moroccan youth.
The Kingdom, under the high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, has breathed new life into this sector by building a number of multi-sport infrastructures and local socio-sports centers, and upgrading other enclosures in view of the organization by the Kingdom of very high-level sporting events.
Under this heading, HM King Mohammed VI proceeded to the inauguration of the Maâmoura National Football Center following its renovation and reconstruction and baptized it “Mohammed VI Football Complex”.
An integrated structure dedicated to the performance and development of high-level football practice, this complex, built by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), reflects the High solicitude with which the Sovereign has constantly surrounded the sport and youth and His desire to provide national football professionals with all the conditions for success and success so that they can represent their country as they should.
With a view to achieving the objectives set and crowning the tireless efforts that the Sovereign has never ceased to provide for the promotion of national sport, HM the King wishes, each time, to congratulate the athletes, clubs and federations on the telephone. sacred at the international level and send them messages of congratulations, in order to encourage them to redouble their efforts and persevere on the same path. This is an opportunity to remind them of the heavy task incumbent on them to hoist the national flag high and act as true ambassadors of the Kingdom.
The heavy tasks assumed by the Sovereign have never prevented Him from giving particular interest to the sports sector. According to the royal vision, sport is, above all, a school where young people are trained and acquire the various tools to contribute to the prosperity and development of the country.
Moreover, since the accession of the Sovereign to the throne of His glorious ancestors, laws and implementing texts relating to sport and physical education, the fight once morest doping and violence within stadiums have been promulgated, in addition to an important legal arsenal relating to the professionalization of football.
As a result, elite sport has benefited from a particular interest and has been allocated all the necessary financial and scientific resources in order to allow Moroccan champions to prepare as they should and in a scientific way and, consequently , hoisting the national colors high during continental and international meetings.
The high royal concern for sport and athletes is also reflected in the interest given to former athletes who have given enormously to Moroccan sport in the various disciplines. They now benefit from the services of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sports Champions, whose main mission is to guarantee a decent life for Moroccan champions by supporting them socially as well as their beneficiaries in terms of social security and pensions.
It goes without saying that the royal message addressed to the participants in the national meeting on sport held in Skhirate in October 2008 constituted a decisive turning point in the national sports policy and a roadmap for achieving the desired objectives.
HM King Mohammed VI also decided to set up the special commission in charge of the development model, in his speech delivered on October 12, 2018 on the occasion of the opening of the first session of the 2nd legislative year of the 10th legislature. , thus confirming the high royal concern for sport and youth.
This new development model, in line with the Royal Enlightened Vision for the sports sector, aims to make this area a real lever for human development, inclusion, social cohesion and the fight once morest poverty, exclusion and marginalization.
