The Rouge et Or players were welcomed as heroes tonight. Supporters, friends and family members cheered them on at the Quebec International Airport.

The champions exited the plane around 8:40 p.m. and met people with their arms in the air, some with Vanier cups.
Two buses were waiting for the players, who were to head to the Telus Stadium before celebrating their triumph in the Old Capital.
“We have a week to celebrate,” laughed Nicolas Thibodeau, a player who was playing his last game with the Rouge et Or.
The fans on site were still on the adrenaline of the ultimate match won by their favorites.
“It is important to come and congratulate them. These are young people who have made a lot of sacrifices in their lives, it’s nice to win, we thank them, ”said Françoise Baron, who has had her season ticket for more than 20 years.
Live at the Videotron Center
Even though the Canadian university football final was taking place in Ontario, around 10,000 people at the Videotron Center were able to experience the final moments of the game live.
“Quebec city of champions. Glen Constantin best coach in Canada”, launched Medin Dergic when the Rouge et Or players had just lifted the precious trophy.
Further on, Rodrigue Rioux takes off his Rouge et Or cap to show it off to another early supporter.
“Look I have 10 stars for the 10 Vanier Cups, I will be able to add another,” he mentioned while the famous song We Are the Champions still thrilled the crowd.
Stressed supporters
The Remparts organization hit the bullseye by showing the Rouge et Or final on the giant screen at the Videotron Center before the Red Devils game, which started at 4:30 p.m.
In the fourth quarter, while the Remparts players were on the ice for the warm-up period, the spectators were glued to the screens, reacting to each good move by the Université Laval representatives.
“Very stressful at the end. Thank you to the Remparts for the initiative”, underlined Émile Rochette.
“The bag of the quarter of our defense, it was the icing on the sundae to knock out the adversary”, analyzed Bernard Pelletier.
For Cynthia Perreault, who is not a football connoisseur, the opportunity was great to encourage another team from Quebec.
“It’s a beautiful moment, very festive. We loved the suspense of the last seconds.
Around the Ramparts
Several supporters we met made a point of pointing out that the Quebec sports teams might repeat the feat of 2006, that is to have two teams win the title of Canadian champions a few months apart.
Currently, the Remparts of Patrick Roy are at the top of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
“We have a very good team, this year it’s all in until the end”, observed André Couturier, who sees his Remparts at the Memorial Cup.
We bet that the president of the Rouge et Or and the Remparts, Jacques Tanguay, is already dreaming regarding it.
