After 49 years, the Rolling Stones should finally have come back to Bern. But nothing will come of the planned appearance in the Wankdorf Stadium for the time being. As the organizers confirm to 20 minutes, the concert planned for next Friday will be canceled for the moment. The reason for this: frontman Mick Jagger’s corona disease. “The band and the organizer deeply regret the postponement, but the safety of the audience, the band and the crew comes first,” said those responsible.

But fans can breathe a sigh of relief: The mega show is to be made up for this summer. The organizers want to communicate the exact replacement date and other details shortly, the tickets purchased remain valid.

The band’s 78-year-old lead singer had already announced on Monday that he had tested positive for the virus, which is why the concert planned for Monday evening in Amsterdam had to be canceled at the last minute. In a statement, it said: “The Rolling Stones deeply regret the postponement of tonight, but the safety of the audience, fellow musicians and touring crew must come first.”

Band celebrates 60th anniversary

The band is celebrating their 60th anniversary with their tour. Mick Jagger (78), Keith Richards (78) and Ronnie Wood (74) opened their “Sixty” tour of Europe on June 1 with a concert in Madrid. The program includes 14 performances in ten countries, including cities such as Milan, London, Brussels and Liverpool.

Mick Jagger, who is vaccinated once morest Covid, launched a new song in April 2021 – ‘Easy Sleazy’ – which he recorded at home during lockdown. In the same month, the band performed their 1969 classic “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” in a virtual performance.
