At last week’s Moscow Chess Open tournament in Russia, a 7-year-old boy who was playing against a chess robot broke the rules by moving his horse too quickly while playing chess, the British newspaper said. Guardian Foreign media reported on the 24th (local time). The robot appears to have caught the child as he moves his horse without waiting for his turn to end. People who saw the sight rushed to help the boy, barely freed from the robot’s hands, but suffered a fracture in the end.
Sergei Smagin, vice president of the Russian Chess Federation, said the boy violated safety rules. It was explained that he had to wait before moving the chess pieces, but he did not. He added that such an incident is extremely rare. Sergei Lazarev, president of the Moscow Chess Federation, said the robot had played many matches before, but had never caused such an accident.
A chess player boy named ‘Christopher’ with a cast on his hand, with the help of a volunteer, continued the match the next day and finished the tournament safely. But Christopher’s parents are said to have contacted the prosecution.
