The Robinson Expedition has changed Morten from Luksusbaby forever

The Robinson Expedition has changed Morten from Luksusbaby forever

So even though it has been challenging to be part of the reality program Robinson Ekspeditionen, 44-year-old Morten Grabowski Kjær does not regret it for a second.

Not even if the co-founder of Luksusbaby had to live with what he himself calls the two S’s – hunger and need – for the roughly 40 days he has been part of the expedition on one of Malaysia’s deserted islands.

– It has been all worth it.

Both sad and relieved

During the expedition, the participants were voted out and sent home, and on Monday evening in the final section, Morgen Grabowski Kjær drew the shortest straw and did not reach the final itself.

– I was both sad and relieved. Of course I wanted to win now that I had come this far, he says.

– But on the other hand, I feel that I have brought everything home, even if I didn’t get the trophy. I was full and completely settled. It was never my biggest goal to win, it was instead to challenge myself and get as many days with the expedition as possible.

And what was the first thing he did when the adventure was over?

– I spoke on the phone with my wife for four hours.

A life-changing experience

Now that he is back at home in everyday life on such a gray and wet winter day, Morten Grabowski Kjær does not hesitate when he has to put into words what he got out of the hardships under the warmer climes.

– It has been a life-changing experience. I have found myself and what it is that is important to me.

And it is helping to make a difference for others. Therefore, Morten Grabowski Kjær has resigned from the day-to-day management of Luksusbaby and has set about establishing a shelter for young people who are having a hard time.

For the same reason, he already founded the company “Potentialet ApS” at the end of September, whose purpose is “to run and facilitate institutional stays for vulnerable people”, as described in the cvr register.

Here it also appears that both he and his wife, Ann Louise Christine Aasted, are appointed as directors of the company.

– And then I would like to join a couple of boards that make sense to me. After 10 years at the head of Luksusbaby, I know it’s important to maintain contact with the business world when you venture into entrepreneurship, he says.

– In Robinson, I found the answer to what I am passionate about. It is to make others succeed. But it was hard, and I’ve learned that you have to go where it hurts if you really want to change.

To feel missed

It was especially the mental part that was hard for Morten Grabowski Kjær.

As viewers of the expedition on Viaplay have been able to see, he has an extremely sensitive side, and his thoughts often flew back to Aalborg. He missed his four children aged two to 19 and his wife Ann-Louise Aasted.

In retrospect, it helped him fulfill his mission.

– To reach the core of myself under pressure and feel my emotions. I thought I knew how to miss my four children, for example – but there felt I missed, says Morten Grabowski Kjær.

– I have learned not to take everything for granted.

Robinson provided the courage

The physical part of the expedition was not nearly as difficult for him.

– I didn’t have much as a child, and I think that was an advantage on the island, he says.

– Because in the midst of loneliness and hunger, I was completely determined that I couldn’t do anything about it. It was about making the best of the situation.

And he has no doubt that the Robinson Expedition 2024 has been a turning point in his life.

– I myself think that I have become a better man who has found his way. Robinson gave me the courage.
