On Sunday, October 6, the 23rd edition of the 10-kilometer Gatorade Caracas Rock will take place, bringing together thousands of runners from all over the country.
This sporting event will take place in the vicinity of the Prados del Este and Las Mercedes highway, so access will remain closed while the race takes place.
The event is scheduled to start at 7:00 am from the Prados del Este highway, near the Valle Arriba golf courses.
In addition, the route will continue along the Main Avenue of Las Mercedes until reaching the arrival arch located in front of Alfredo Sadel Square.
The streets that will be closed:
– Main Avenue of Las Mercedes with Mucuchies Street
– Highway towards Prados del Este
– El Hatillo Avenue with Las Vegas Street in La Trinidad and Alto Prado
Alternate routes
According to the statement from the Mayor’s Office of Baruta, drivers will be able to take the following alternative routes:
-Towards Las Mercedes the old Baruta highway will be open
-To get to Colinas de Bello Monte you must take the main avenue and its cross streets
-If you need to go to Santa Fe, the main avenue towards Los Campitos and Cumbres de Curumo will be free, as well as Suapure Street towards Colinas de Bello Monte
-Towards Prados del Este the La Trinidad and Alto Prado directions of the highway will be enabled.
The Mayor’s Office of Baruta also recalled that the road closure is established for 3:00 am on Sunday, October 6, so they asked drivers to make their predictions in advance.
About Gatorade Caracas Rock
This event is one of the most important races in Venezuela, as it attracts runners from all over the country and the world.
The circuit is certified by the Venezuelan Athletics Federation, the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics, for its translation from English) and the AIMS (International Association of Marathons and Distance Races), so the results are valid for set records.
During the tour, participants will have 4 hydration points:
-Kilometer 4: water
-Kilometer 6: Gatorade
-Kilometer 8: Gatorade
-Kilometer 9: water
In addition, for those who accompany the runners, they will also be able to enjoy some musical entertainment spots.
The overall winners, whether in the female or male categories, will receive cash prizes of between $800 and $1,500.
All registered runners will receive a participation medal, while those who obtain the first three places will be awarded a special one.
The event has 13 categories available, which includes the race for people with wheelchair mobility.
