The mayor of the capital Pedro Pesatti asked the National Highway the urgent repair of the railway bridge, in a section of the access from Viedma, which was closed to traffic this Monday due to the breakage of the road.
“From what they informed me, and what I verified with my own eyes, the calcareous material that supported the pavement drained as a result of rainwater seepage,” explained the mayor, adding that “The asphalt was practically in the air in that section, and it is extremely risky for the vehicles and the people they transport.”
The Viedma community chief also maintained a communication with Ricardo Curetti, regional chief of National Highway, who asked him to verify the situation of the structure and order the necessary actions for its repair.
“I contacted the engineer Curetti because in addition to being today the person in charge of National Highway in the region, he is a person who knows the work very well since he was mayor of Patagones at that time,” added Pesatti.
Less than ten years ago, in 2013, work was carried out with a budget of 17 million pesos -approximately 5 million dollars at that time-, for the renovation and enhancement of the Ferrocarretero bridge, which included improvements in the structure that today It was affected.
“The bridge is a fundamental way for the communication of two sister cities, of workers and workers who must cross every day to carry out their tasks”, Pesatti exposed and expressed that “that is why it is essential to fix it urgently.”
Finally, the community chief said that “I am confident that this work, given its dimensions and hierarchy, will still be under warranty and all this will be able to have a satisfactory solution as soon as possible.”
