“The Rising of the Spirit” presented one-fifth of the truth..and I miss cinema

Egyptian director Kamela Abu Zekri revealed that she misses cinema and wants to direct cinematic works during the coming period, explaining that TV dramas have achieved her fame and great success.

The Egyptian director indicated, in an interview with CNN Arabia, that she graduated from the Film Institute, and worked as an assistant director for several films.

Director Kamela Abu Zekry pointed out that Egyptian cinema stopped following the events of 2011, which forced her to turn to television, which benefited Egyptian dramas, because her generation made a shift in image and ideas.

Kamela Abu Zekry expressed that she hopes to make a film regarding Palestine, dealing with the true story that she knows through her father, as it is not similar to festival films that seek to satisfy tastes and tendencies, because the truth will prevent the film from being accepted in large festivals, according to her saying.

The Egyptian director spoke regarding the series “Belo’ Al Rouh”, which was shown last Ramadan, saying: “What we presented in the series is one-fifth of the truth.. The truth is much worse than that, and I might not present the truth more clearly than that, because the series is shown in Ramadan and it is difficult The viewer must see the bloodshed and cruelty in its actual form.

And she continued, “The series was subjected to a campaign before its showing, accusing it of insulting the Islamic religion and calling for its boycott, but the series sought to clarify the truth of the Islamic religion, because the actions of terrorist groups offended religion, and linked the word God is great to the bombing.”
