I filed a petition before the Division Bench.

Protest on social media
In his Facebook post, a user named Dhanesh Kumar wrote: ‘Two days after Paharad Alami, a petition against the cutting of Karunjhar is being heard in the country’s highest court. Let us promise that we will stand by our mountain.’
Al Harkiu Kosu wrote: ‘Karunjhar supports more than 75 thousand people, animals and birds. Karunjhar is the last refuge of many rare animals and our national heritage. We hope that the court will do justice to us.’
Sanal Khoso posted on Karunjhar with his picture: ‘Civilized countries give life to their animals, mountains, like humans. They also make laws regarding this. But here, mountains like Karunjhar are bid to be harvested and humans are not valued.’
The Karunjhar range is located in the Parker part of Tharparkar district. Across the Indian border from this unique hilly border lies the run-off of the Indian state of Gujarat.
The confluence of ancient human civilizations of Indian Gujarat, Rajasthan and the Mehran Valley, Karunjhar is spread over an area of 23 km which is richer in wildlife, herb and plant species than any other region of Sindh and potentially It can be given the status of National Park.
Karunjhar is also important because it is the confluence of the mountains, the Rann and the sandy Thar.
Granite has been quarried from Karunjhar mountain since 1979, but after the construction of the road to Thar and especially to Nagarpakar in 2006 during the regime of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, the extraction of granite has accelerated.
After the widespread use of social media platforms over the past few years, local people have started asking questions about granite mining on social media.
Over the past few years, many Thar people have protested against the quarrying of granite from Karunjhar. A poem written by Thar poet Khalil Kanbhar during this protest some time ago, ‘Dongar ne ne wadho, vicho (Don’t cut the mountain, sell it)’ sung by Thar singer Rajab Faqir, is viral on social media.
Speaking to Independent Urdu, poet Khalil Kunbhar said: ‘The beauty of Karunjhar, the presence of underground fresh water in Parker along with the herbs found in it and the properties that nurture animals, birds and humans is due to Karunjhar.

According to a study by the Sindh Irrigation Development Authority (SAZDA), the mountain range recharges the first of the three layers of groundwater. An example of which is that small towns in Parker are located where there is a mountain, because the groundwater is fresh. In addition, the Karunjhar hill serves as a grazing ground for the livelihood of the Parker people.
“If this mountain is cut, the underground fresh water will disappear from this area and people will have to migrate from this area.”
Khalil Kunbhar, referring to another research, said that the Karunjhar mountain also affects the seasons of this region, according to the research, this mountain range diverts the clouds coming from the east towards the north, due to which Sharai Thar, Achhu Monsoon rains are possible in Thar and even as far as the Cholistan desert. ‘If Karunjhar is cut off, all these deserts will be deprived of rain and wasted.’
Thar’s poet-writer and author of several books, Bharu Mal Amrani, has taken a detailed account of the historical importance of Karunjhar in his book ‘Mathanlak Latif Chai’.
Talking to Independent Urdu, Bharu Mil Amrani said that Shiv Range on Kailash Parbat in Himalayas, Hyder Civilization of Ethiopia, Indus Civilization of Moin Jo Daro, Mehrgarh is one of the few places where early human civilizations were born. And Karunjhar has been the center of Parinagar civilization.
According to Bharu Mal Amrani: ‘There are many ancient caves in the Karunjhar mountain including Andharu Ojaro Cave, Piprio, Godaro River, Bhatiani River and Cow Mukhi in the caves found in the sites of Early Humans, human figures, human hands and The images of feet and animals testify that humans were living here in ancient times.
Apart from this, Stone Age artifacts and tools used during this period have also been discovered near Pardaro village in Parkar. Therefore, Karunjhar should be protected instead of being cut.’
