Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, responded to critics of the way Roshen League clubs attracted football stars during the last summer transfer market.

Saudi clubs had secured the services of the most prominent players around the world, but some media outlets, including English, criticized this, in addition to some athletes.

Turki Al-Sheikh told beIN SPORTS channels, in response to the critics: “In my own opinion, I see that the fears in England are exaggerated. I believe that Saudi Arabia has the right to develop its league, and this is a plan drawn up in 2016 and launched in 2017.”

He continued: “We did not see their voices on the Chinese League or the American League. They were pioneers in this field. We did not hear their voices when they withdrew players and sponsors from the Italian League, and we did not hear their voices when people from abroad invested in their league, which in the nineties was a weak league.” According to him.

Turki Al-Sheikh continued: “Saudi Arabia has the right to work to develop its league, to make its people and residents happy, and to attract tourists and the world’s attention to its sport. I am not just talking regarding football. I am not surprised by this topic (criticism) and it is unrealistic at the same time.” His expression.
