Deputy Chairman of the Medef for five years, Patrick Martin, 63, assured the beginning of June in the columns of the Sunday newspaper what “management activism” was for him a “second life”. Among his other proposals, there was also the reduction of social contributions beyond 2.5 smic and the continuation of the reduction in production taxes. He also came out in favor of the reform of vocational high schools, or for greater joint action with trade unions, denouncing a “historical tendency towards nationalization” social relationships.

Patrick Martin’s candidacy has attracted many supporters, including the powerful Union of Metal Industries and Metallurgy Trades (UIMM), the French Building Federation and the National Federation of Public Works. When he is not at Medef – now more than a single day a week – Patrick Martin runs the family business Martin Belaysoud Expansion, of which he is also the majority shareholder. Founded in 1829, it specializes in the distribution of equipment for construction and industry and today has 3,000 employees at 220 sites in France as well as in Morocco and Slovakia.
Belonging to the management team of Medef and being at the head of a company is not “not incompatible”he estimated with the Sunday newspaper.
