Previously, Kurtazi and A met online in July 2021 to hack the BT·EE servers and data files of large British telecommunications companies and demanded 3.1 million pounds (approximately 5.227 billion won). Although they did not receive the money at the time, they stole regarding 100,000 pounds (regarding 168 million won) from their cryptocurrency accounts using the SIM card information of the five victims.
The two men were arrested in January of the following year and continued to commit crimes even following they were released during the investigation.
