New course in Europe and slowdown in Switzerland. That’s essentially the trend in the electric vehicle market this year, according to data released in July by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) and car importers organization Auto-Suisse.

For the first time in June, sales of electric vehicles surpassed those of their diesel counterparts in the EU, according to THAT. With 158,000 models sold, the electric market rose from 10.7 to 15.1% in one year. It explodes in the Netherlands, Germany, France or Belgium. Diesel is declining, at 13.4% of sales. Hybrids, also growing strongly, represent 24.3% of the EU market. Gasoline models, with 36.3% of registrationsremain in front.
