The Rise and Fall of Toujust: A Look at the Closure of Five Stores

Less than a year following their opening, Toujust stores “will close this evening”, their CEO tells BFM Business, confirming information published a little earlier this evening by Capital.

End clap for Toujust. Less than a year following their opening, the five Toujust stores will close this evening at midnight, CEO Fabrice Gerber and founder told us, confirming information published a little earlier this Wednesday evening by Capital. The takeover offer does not seem to have convinced the Créteil commercial court.

“The buyer’s offer was not convincing enough, the stores will close this evening at midnight while awaiting their sale,” Fabrice Gerber tells us. This morning once more, the CEO wanted to believe in the possibility that a group would take over these five points of sale, located in Alès (Gard), Rivery (Somme), Proville (Nord), Lempdes (Puy-de-Dôme) and Monéteau ( Yonne).

Debt of more than 5 million euros

The first store in Alès was opened last March, with the guarantee of offering prices 5 to 10% lower than those of its main rivals, Lidl and Aldi. But the situation quickly deteriorated. A person close to the matter spoke to BFM Business of “particularly questionable management decisions” leading to a debt of more than 5 million euros.

Toujust was the subject of a judicial recovery procedure decided by the Créteil commercial court on October 5 before being placed in compulsory liquidation on November 16.
