The few hundred passengers cruising on the lake this Saturday followingnoon aboard the CGN le Rhône boat, including a group of friends celebrating a bachelor party, saw their followingnoon spiced up by a breakdown .

Around 4 p.m., the Belle Epoque steamboat with paddle wheels came to a standstill off Corsier (GE). “A hydraulic pump got stuck, preventing the steam engine from working,” explains Florentine Baron Pailhès, the company’s marketing director.

The Lavaux launch was immediately dispatched to pick up the passengers. Because of the wait, they ended up spending an hour longer than expected on the lake. “For us, the most important thing was that customers were quickly taken care of.”

The Rhône will be towed to Geneva on Saturday evening, then brought back to the Ouchy shipyard (VD) in the coming days. Florentine Baron Pailhès indicates that the temporary unavailability of the boat will not cause any changes to the schedules in the days to come, the CGN having alternative solutions.
