Stopped in mid-flight, the project to dismantle and recycle old planes at Charleroi airport has just been put back on track, during the last government of the Walloon Region. It was one of the most original projects of the recovery plan, federal first, then only Walloon: developing a site at Charleroi airport dedicated to the dismantling of aircraft and the recycling of the different materials that make it up (recovery of parts still useful and for the rest distribution by type of metal, plastic, etc.). A market in sight, knowing that each year, 200 to 300 planes end their lives that the need to limit CO2 emissions and therefore to rejuvenate the airlines’ aircraft fleets will accelerate.
