Regarding her sexual identity, Mariana said that at this point in her life she had already made friends with her masculine and feminine part. “I do not feel that I was born in the wrong body, on the contrary, I live it in a very proud way and I even feel better now. What’s more, sometimes I think I’m a superior being because of that,” the actress confessed. And she added forcefully: “It does not offend me at all that they know that I am a trans woman”

At another point in the night, Mariana talked regarding her childhood and the economic needs she had to face with her family when she was a girl. “I grew up in a very humble environment, my paternal grandmother inherited a small fortune when I was a girl and she suddenly had a greater purchasing power and she helped me a lot. That was how I went to a private school then but lived in a very poor house, ”she recounted.

That contrast between poverty and wealth made Mariana today have a very versatile personality but at the same time she cares regarding money to live better. Always remembering her grandmother Lucia from her, the actress revealed that she provided everything any child needed but that she was also a great emotional support for her. “My grandmother always gave me the freedom to be who I wanted to be and in that sense, during my adolescence she was a great support for me.”

Laughing, Peña assured that fortunately she never had to tell anyone in her family that she was a trans girl. “She was too noticeable, since she was a girl that everyone might always notice it,” she proudly acknowledged.

Although she lived for many years in New York with her husband Nicolás, her beginnings in Buenos Aires were not easy. When she left her native Córdoba for the Federal Capital, she went to live in a pension because she had no money to support herself. “I was very focused on the fact that I wanted to progress and that I was going to get out of that place. I remember that every morning following taking a shower, I would buy myself a coffee and go sit on a bench in a square on Libertador Avenue. From there I meditated, I wanted to absorb the energy of the rich people who lived in the area, ”she confessed.

In the beginning, Mariana also spoke of her relationship with Valeria Mazza. “My grandmother’s family had always told me that we were distant relatives with her, so one day in an interview with Roberto Piazza I told her. It is clear that he told some journalists because a few days later I was participating in the Pride March and some people approached me with a photo of Valeria and they took a photo of me with her.
