The Moto Guzzi range has contracted in recent years, as they say in economic circles, but the Mandello del Lario brand has regained its colors with a nice commercial success, that of the V85TT.

This vintage trail, not devoid of interest, is seeing good sales volumes for this very small Italian brand which still produces on the banks of the transalpine lake. But the other major novelty is the return of the Stelvio which this time is made on the basis of a model that we know well.

Moto Guzzi Stelvio 2024, return of a maxi trail

It must be recognized that the first Stelvio 1200 was not a success despite many qualities. It must be recognized that the ogre 1200 GS swallows everything in its path, so attacking it head-on while being such a small actor is not easy. This time, the Mandello brand returns with another strategy. The positioning is not in the 1200 category but in that of the 1000 and the equipment is very complete.

We already know the engine since it is that of the V100 Mandello S which looks like a Sport GT trail. We also find some elements of this machine, but it is indeed a real trail that this new opus of the Stelvio reveals, notably with other suspension elements and significantly improved protection compared to the Mandello S.

The strength of this new Moto Guzzi, in addition to the protection highlighted, is to remain compact and in the 900 to 1000 cm3 category, it is also the only one to have a cardan shaft which can make the difference for frequent travelers who balk at a chain.

With its digital screen, its numerous driving aids including an off-road mode for those who drive everywhere and comfort which seems successful on paper before validating it with a test, the new Stelvio 1000 might announce itself as a nice success for this small brand which still manufactures its models in Europe and mainly in Italy.

V85TT, more choices to extend success

We can say that the V85TT almost saved the brand. It must be said that apart from the V7, there was almost nothing left when the V85TT arrived. A real breath of fresh air with a little vintage trail, a machine that goes once morest everything the competition offered.

Obviously, Moto Guzzi is not changing the formula but for 2024, we see changes coming to this motorcycle now offered in V85TT Strada versions with the minimum equipment, V85TT and V85TT Travel.

The 90-degree V-shaped engine features variable valve timing. It is still air-cooled and complies with the Euro5+ standard. Torque increases from 80 to 83 Nm at 5100 rpm and power to 80 horsepower at 7550 rpm, that’s 4 horsepower more than before.

These are almost the same engine speeds but with a little more torque and power. Outside the engine we find an aluminum instrumentation support, materials also used for the passenger handles, the windshield which evolves in its shape and is adjusted to 70 mm in height manually and wider hand guards too.

For ergonomics, the TFT screen increases to 5 inches and the comodos evolve. We also note the arrival of an inertial unit which allows you to benefit from ABS in curves. The three V85TTs are distinguished by the level of equipment they have.
