“The return of CST is not on the agenda”, according to Christie Morreale

“We have for several months been working on several possible scenarios”, recalls the Minister of Health Christie Morreale regarding the vaccination campaign once morest Covid planned for the fall.

Finally, the chosen scenario is the one that primarily targets the vaccination of the most vulnerable people, namely immunocompromised people, those aged 65 and over, residents of accommodation facilities, health professionals and people aged 50-64. year. Pregnant women will also receive special attention.

For people over 18, this vaccination will be on a voluntary and individual basis.

“It is also an opportunity to encourage all people who do not have full vaccination to remedy this,” said the minister.

Launching September 5

The priority public (immunocompromised, 65 years and over, residents of accommodation facilities and health care professionals) will receive an invitation at the end of August to go and be vaccinated as a priority from the beginning of September. In Wallonia, the campaign will be officially launched on September 5. The ideal timing is 6 months following the previous dose, but this can be done as early as 3 or 4 months, said Christie Morreale.

This first phase will extend over 4 weeks. 21 vaccination centers will be set up within this framework (open on average 6 days a week and 10 hours a day). It will also be possible to get vaccinated in regarding fifty pharmacies and at participating general practitioners and home nurses. The new device will make it possible to vaccinate 184,000 people per week.

“In hospitals, for nursing staff, vaccination will be done on site,” said the minister. In nursing homes, staff cannot be vaccinated on site, unlike residents.

Pregnant women can make an appointment by calling Aviq directly (071/31.34.93, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

50-64 ans

In the 50-64 age group, “it is difficult to identify people who have comorbidities, knowing that smoking and consuming alcohol are part of it,” said Minister Christie Morreale. This is why everyone between the ages of 50 and 64 will also be

individually invited. This will be done in a second time.

General population

For those under 50 who wish to be vaccinated, the Qvax platform will be reactivated. They can also make an appointment directly at one of the vaccination sites.
