With Blake Corum returning to Michigan, the Wolverines might well win the Big Ten three times.
Amid the constant cacophony of Jim Harbaugh NFL rumors, the Michigan Wolverines have received some good news regarding one of their best players: Running Back Blake Corum is back!
Had he not been injured late in the season, Corum would have been a Heisman Trophy runner-up. He might have made the difference once morest the TCU Horned Frogs at the Fiesta Bowl. After tasting a bitter loss in the College Football Playoff semifinals two seasons in a row, it’s no surprise that Corum returns to Ann Arbor with a Big Ten hat-trick in the lead, and then some.
Here is the message Corum sent to Michigan fans regarding his decision to return in 2023.
Blake Corum back in Michigan: How far can the Wolverines go next season?
No matter what Harbaugh decides to do, Michigan should be one of the best teams in college football next year. Although it’s tough to win in a conference, Michigan has beaten Ohio State in its last two meetings. More importantly, the Wolverines will face the Buckeyes in the Big House next Thanksgiving weekend. Schedule aside, the Wolverines have a lot of players.
With quarterback JJ McCarthy and running back Donovan Edwards not yet eligible for the draft, Michigan might have one of the most explosive offenses in the country. While they may not win the Joe Moore Award three times next year, Michigan has a definite identity that suggests they will do their best to outplay the opponent physically. The big question is whether this will be enough.
Although Michigan is unlikely to be favorite to win the four-team College Football Playoff final, the Wolverines are one of eight teams with a strong chance of getting there. Although Georgia will likely feature once more, TCU might be a major candidate for regression next fall. For now, Corum joins his Michigan teammates, destined to make the top 10 once more and maybe win the playoffs?
It wasn’t a guarantee that Corum would return, but it certainly makes Michigan even better.
