Retirement time has come for Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who is leaving the NFL following nine seasons.

The Quebec guard will make the official announcement in the followingnoon, at 2 p.m., during a press conference scheduled at Percival-Molson stadium.
Duvernay-Tardif made his name with the Kansas City Chiefs, with whom he played until 2021, before being traded to the New York Jets. He won Super Bowl 54 as the starting right guard with the Chiefs once morest the San Francisco 49ers in Miami.

“Although closing the door on this stage of my life will be difficult, I am serene in this decision and I withdraw with the feeling of duty accomplished. I see this incredible experience not as an end goal, but a springboard towards other projects,” he mentioned on his social networks while waiting to make his comments in person.
Duvernay-Tardif took care to thank his agent Sasha Ghavami, his wife Florence, McGill University where he completed his medical studies, as well as the Chiefs and the Jets. He of course had a special thought for the Quebec fans who supported him.
“And thank you all for the unconditional and inexhaustible support you have shown me over these 9 years. I feel blessed to have experienced this with you,” he said.

Duvernay-Tardif played in 79 games in the NFL, including 71 as a starter. He returned to action last November with the Jets and mentioned last spring that he was at peace with the possibility of retiring if he didn’t receive a good contract offer.
In 2020 he was appointed Sportsperson of the Year par Sports Illustrated.
