DECRYPTION – After four years of decline, Renault, Dacia and Alpine returned to growth in 2023.
The Renault group is returning to the “game”, as Luca de Meo, the general director who took charge in July 2020, would say. Global sales of the Renault, Dacia and Alpine brands are growing once more following four years of decline. The number of vehicles sold by brand and by country is increasing sharply: sales increased by 9% in volume, to 2.235 million vehicles, in 2023. However, we will have to wait until mid-February to know the group’s financial performance.
The progression is spectacular (+ 17% to 563,000 units) for Dacia, the group’s entry-level brand which was growing in 2022 when Renault was still in decline for the fourth year in a row. Dacia’s market share in Europe now reaches 8.3%, which places it in second position behind Volkswagen, and ahead of Toyota, in the private vehicle market.
