The trial date once morest ex-castle actor Florian Teichtmeister, who is accused of possessing tens of thousands of files depicting child abuse, is approaching. As the spokesman for the Vienna Regional Court, Christoph Zonsics-Kral, announced, the results of the investigations commissioned by the responsible judge have reached the court. “They have already been brought to the attention of the prosecution and the defense,” Zonsics-Kral stated.
The trial once morest Teichtmeister should therefore take place in the foreseeable future. There is no concrete date yet, said Zonsics-Kral to the APA on Wednesday followingnoon. Originally, the mime should have been tried in February, but this date had to be canceled at short notice due to the defendant’s illness. Teichtmeister is now able to negotiate once more. His judge had recently initiated surveys that he believed were essential to clarify jurisdiction and legal classification.
The Vienna public prosecutor has accused Teichtmeister of procuring tens of thousands of files depicting abused children and young people between February 2008 and summer 2021. According to the indictment, Teichtmeister is said to have saved the relevant material on two smartphones, two laptops, a desktop, three external hard drives, a USB stick and three memory cards. The data was secured and evaluated – but apparently it was not initially finally clarified whether only children or minors are shown on the secured files.
The public prosecutor had been investigating Teichtmeister since 2021, and at the end of 2022 the application for punishment was submitted to the regional court. The government took the Teichtmeister case as an opportunity to tighten the penalties for acquiring, possessing and passing on or trading in depictions of abuse by children and young people. Since retroactive effect of criminal laws is forbidden, the actor is no longer affected in the event of a conviction – regardless of when the trial once morest him takes place.
