The Institut des Hautes Etudes du Mali (IHEM) served as the setting on Tuesday for the solemn ceremony of national restitution of the first phase of the project “palaver tree: when the women of Mali speak out for a greater participation of Malian women to political life and to the electoral process, a guarantee of stability and a lasting solution to the crisis! “. In addition to the representatives of the ministries of territorial administration; of the reform of the State and the advancement of women, we noted the presence of the Governor of the district, the ambassador of the United Kingdom and other partners of the project.

Launched on December 6, 2022, the first phase of this project was implemented between October 2022 and March 2023 in 14 municipalities in the regions of Ségou, Mopti and the District of Bamako. Accountability obliges, the Africa Caribbean and Europe firm (ACE-Conseil), in charge of its implementation, returns the results to the partners and beneficiaries.

We note from the coordinator’s explanations that the implementation of the project has enabled the organization of 14 palaver trees. Which essentially revolved around the texts relating to the popularization of the new electoral law n ° 2022-019, law n ° 2015-052 on the promotion of gender in access to nominative and elective functions; and the strategic framework document for the refoundation of the State (CSRE 2022-2031). “More than 3,000 women from the regions of Ségou, Mopti and the district of Bamako have benefited from this project”, we are delighted.

Better, the coordinator adds that the 14 organized palaver trees allowed the 1259 participants to comb through the situation of the country, to formulate proposals and recommendations to the highest authorities of the country. This is for the effective participation of women in the electoral process, in political and institutional reforms.

According to Mrs. Koumba Traoré, director of ACE-Conseil, the restitution is part of the policy of transparency and accountability of her Cabinet. In her speech, she reveals that women, especially in rural areas and difficult areas, need to be listened to and to have their sufferings heard by everyone. “They need to be taken into account in the development of public policies as well as in decision-making bodies”, she suggests.

Carrying a message, she mentioned the imperative need to take into account the recommendations she made under the palaver trees so that Mali finds the path of stability and development for a sustainable exit from the multidimensional crisis. faced by our country for more than a decade.

Remember that the concept ”Arbre à Palabre” is a space for social mediation and speaking out for Malian women. Opportunity for her to speak out on subjects of national interest and to formulate recommendations for a lasting solution to the crisis.
