The resignation of Tariq Amer, governor of the Central Bank, and Sisi appoints him as an advisor

Today, Wednesday, the official Egyptian TV said that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi appointed Tarek Amer as an advisor to the President of the Republic, following his resignation from the position of Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt.

The Central Bank of Egypt had denied a few days ago Tariq Amer’s resignationcoinciding with the news issued of a cabinet reshuffle.

Gamal Negm, the first deputy governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, revealed at the time that what was reported regarding the resignation of Central Bank Governor Tarek Amer from his position was incorrect, stressing that his term of office ends in November next year.

There were many rumors circulating that Tariq Amer had resigned, and that the appointment of Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning, was approaching in his place.

Amer was appointed governor of the Central Bank since November 27, 2015, following the resignation of former governor Hisham Ramez from his position.

Amer is the nephew of Field Marshal Abdel Hakim Amer, the former Egyptian Minister of Defense, and the son of Engineer Hassan Amer, the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zamalek Club, and he assumed the presidency of the Board of the National Bank of Egypt.
