The representative of the Polisario Front meets in New York with de Mistura on the future of the peace process in Western Sahara

The representative of the Polisario Front to the UN and coordinator with MINURSO, Mohamed Sidi Amar conducted, on Wednesday in New York, unofficial bilateral consultations with the personal envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, on the future of the peace process in Western Sahara.

The consultations, which took place at the headquarters of the UN General Secretariat, focused on the state and future of the peace process in Western Sahara under the aegis of the UN.

Mr. Sidi Amar reaffirmed to the UN personal envoy the position of the Polisario front concerning this issue and others related to it.

The Sahrawi diplomat stressed during this meeting that “the peaceful, just and lasting settlement of the question of decolonization of Western Sahara cannot be achieved without full respect for the inalienable, non-negotiable and imprescriptible right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence”.

The spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, Stéphane Dujarric, said last Tuesday that the UN personal envoy for Western Sahara will hold unofficial bilateral consultations in New York this week with the representatives of the parties to the conflict (Polisario Front and Morocco).
